CorelDraw 10 : Page and Document Setup - Deleting Pages, Document Navigation

5/5/2013 9:27:19 PM

1. Deleting Pages

If you decide that a page is no longer needed, you are free to delete it.

To delete one or more pages:

1.
Choose Layout > Delete Page.

The Delete Page dialog box appears, showing the currently selected page (Figure 1).

Figure 1. You can delete a single page or a consecutive range of pages.

2.
You can delete an individual page or a consecutive range of pages:

  • To delete one page, enter its page number in the Delete page text box.

  • To delete a range of pages, enter the number of the first page in the Delete page text box. Click the Through to page check box and enter the number of the last page in the second text box.

3.
Click OK.

The page or range of pages is deleted. The remaining pages are renumbered.

Tips

  • When deleting pages, you are allowed to delete all but one. Thus, if a document contains only a single page, you cannot execute the Delete Page command. Similarly, if a document has two pages, you cannot delete a page range.

  • You can also delete an individual page by right-clicking its page tab in the Document Navigator and choosing Delete Page from the pop-up menu that appears .

  • If you delete a page by mistake, you can restore the page by immediately choosing Edit > Undo Delete Page or by pressing.

Naming and Renaming Pages

CorelDraw automatically names each page according to its position in the document (Page 1, Page 2, and so on). You may find it beneficial to assign real names to some pages, identifying a page by its contents, for instance.

To name or rename a page, switch to that page, choose Layout > Rename Page, enter a name, and click OK. Alternately, you can right-click a page tab and choose Rename Page. The renamed page is designated by its number and name, such as 2: Logo.

2. Document Navigation

When working on a multi-page document such as a brochure, you can easily switch from one page to the next or jump to a specific page.

To switch to another page:

  • Click a page tab at the bottom of the CorelDraw window (Figure 2).

Figure 2. The page tabs at the bottom of the screen let you switch from one page to another.

  • Click the left or right arrows on either side of the page counter.

The standard arrows move one page in the chosen direction; arrows with a vertical bar switch to the first or last page in the document, respectively.

  • Choose Layout > Go To Page.

The Go To Page dialog box appears (Figure 3). Type the page number you want to move to and click OK.

Figure 3. Use the Go To Page dialog box to jump directly to any page in a multi-page drawing.

  • Choose View > Page Sorter View.

A page appears that contains thumbnail representations of the document pages. Double-click any thumbnail to go to the page it represents.

Tips

  • The Go To Page dialog box is particularly useful when you're working with a large document. It lets you jump to a specific page. Another way to call up the Go To Page dialog box is to double-click the page counter at the bottom of the screen (Figure 2).

  • You can also press to go to the previous page or to go to the next page.

Reorganizing Pages

As you add and remove pages, it isn't unusual to find that they're out of order. You can use either of the following procedures to reorganize the document pages.

  • Drag page tabs in the Document Navigator left or right to a new position (Figure 2).

  • Switch to Page Sorter View by choosing View > Page Sorter View. Click to select the page you want to move and then drag it to a new position.
