Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 : Formatting Objects (part 1) - Apply a Fill Color or Effect

3/9/2015 9:37:15 PM
Objects, including the clip art (graphic images), WordArt, pictures, and shapes which you draw on your slides, can all be made up of several manners. You can fill object of color or model, change the contour of the form by modifying the line style and thickness, and apply a large variety of effects, such as softening the edges or applying a three-dimensional effect (3-D) or of rotation. Together, these options of formatting let to you adapt an object to reveal it right the manner that you want it with.

Apply a Fill Color or Effect

  1. Select a shape, text box, or WordArt object. (You can also perform these steps with SmartArt objects, but the Format tab in the next step is then named SmartArt Tools.)

  2. Click the Drawing Tools, Format tab.

  3. Click the Shape Fill button.

Apply a Fill Color or Effect
  4. Use the Shape Fill gallery to make the changes you want to the selected object.

Try This!

The Fill gallery uses the Live Preview feature. When you pass your mouse pointer over a Theme or Standard color or over a Gradient or Texture option, it is previewed on the object on your slide.

Tip

You cannot add a fill to clip art or a picture object because their “fill” is the image they contain. However, you can change their shape or border or add effects such as 3-D. See tasks elsewhere in this section to learn how to do this.
