If you have used Internet Explorer in previous versions of Windows, then the Desktop IE in Windows 8 will seem familiar to you.

To open Desktop IE10

• Click a tile on the Start screen that opens a website that contains legacy content, and the Desktop version of IE will launch.

• Select the View On The Desktop command from the Page Tools menu in the tile-based IE.

The first time you open Desktop IE, all the interface tools—menus, favorites, and so forth—are turned off . Both the Favorites button and the Tools button display a drop-down menu with choices, but if you are on a large monitor, you might want to see traditional menus and toolbars.

To display toolbars and menus

1. Right-click the address bar to show the Tools menu .
