Microsoft Outlook 2010 : Adding a New Contact (part 1) - Create a Contact from an E-Mail Message

3/13/2015 11:19:11 PM
You can add contacts to Outlook’s Contacts folder in three manners: by new information of typewriting on somebody in the contacts form, using information you entered for another contact, or using the information of an e-mail. In this last case, for example, you can quickly create a new contact using the information of a message which you received.

Create a Contact from an E-Mail Message

  1. With the Inbox showing, select the message that has the contact information you want to save. If you don’t have the Reading Pane displayed, open the message to access the From field.

    Tip

Depending on how the From field is filled out in an e-mail message, you may need to modify the Full Name field when you create a new contact from a mail message. For example, if the sender’s name isn’t complete or doesn’t appear at all, you need to manually enter the information in the address card.

  2. Right-click the name or address that appears in the From field.

  3. Choose Add To Outlook Contacts from the shortcut menu that appears. A new contact card opens, with some of the new contact’s information already entered.

    Tip
  4. Type the pertinent information into the remaining fields.

  5. Click the Save & Close button to save the contact information.

Tip

Click Full Name to open the Check Full Name dialog box. In this box, fill in the complete name and any appropriate prefix (such as “Dr.”) or suffix (such as “Jr.”). Click OK.
